2011 MINI-CAR DEMO DERBY RULES
Thursday night, September 1
Inspection at 4 p.m. Derby at 7 p.m.
Car preparation for getting a mini-car ready is the same as the full-size derby cars. No
leaf-spring cars are allowed, no AMC cars, and no Volvos allowed after the first derby at
Crawford County in May. No V-8 motors and V-6 motors are allowed only if the car does
not exceed maximum weight. Foreign cars can compete.
1. Mini-cars must have wheel base of 101 inches or less and weigh less than 2,600 lbs.
as stated in the N.A.D.A. book. Uni-body cars can compete with mini-cars if their wheelbase
is 105 inches or less and weigh less than 3,250 lbs. No 4-wheel drive vehicles and if
vehicle is all wheel drive, one driveshaft must be removed.
2. Driver’s side door may be welded solid up to window and 2-3 inch strips allowed to
top of car. All other doors are allowed 6 3-inch welds or they may be wired or chained.
No other welds on body. Bumpers may be welded with 1-2 inch strip to frame to seam
bumpers to car. If frame is broken, call to verify how to patch frame. No welding of frame
seams and nothing can be stuffed in frames.
3. Suspension must be completely stock. Car must move. No welding on any suspension
parts.
4. No electric fuel pumps unless it was original equipment on make and model of car.
Fuel pump shut off must be wired to ignition switch.
5. Tires must have D.O.T. number. No tire size-change from original tire size of car.
Nothing bigger than 14 inch on mini-car. Minimum tire size is 13 inch. No small tires or
wheels.
6. Batteries and fuel tank must be moved, must be covered and must be securely fastened.
7. No tucking of body parts. If question, please read full size car derby rules.
If we have any mid-size derbies in 2009, these rules will apply.
1. A mid-size car can have a wheelbase up to 110 inches.
2. Must be uni-body.
3. No leaf springs.
4. Mid-size cars must have 14 inch tires or less, unless they came out with 15 inch.
5. Any other questions can be addressed by the officials.
